You may have heard this one before…

When it comes to losing weight and changing your physique, what worked in your 20s, no longer works in your 40s.


Losing weight in your 20s:

  • 1,200 calories per day
  • Running, running, running
  • Coffee for breakfast
  • Dry salads with plain chicken breast
  • Random weight loss supplements

Losing weight in your 40s:

  • Planned nutrition with a responsible cut phase
  • Strength training at least 3x per week
  • Adequate protein + whole foods
  • Increased daily movement (walking)
  • 8+ hours of sleep per night

​How I lost the perimenopause weight

My weight loss transformation happened because of PATIENCE and a PLAN.

Before [2020]: Overworked, overtrained, exhausted, major PMS, moody, and negative AF. My stress hormones, cravings, and sleep were a mess as well as my thyroid and gut health. I was in a dark, sad place and feeling awful about myself. I also put on 10-15 pounds practically overnight.

After [2023]: Happy, energized, balanced, and lost nearly 15 pounds. I have regular, pain-free periods without any hormonal symptoms, plenty of energy and motivation, libido has returned, thyroid is in check, and sleeping through the night.

Important to note: I didn’t lose 15 pounds overnight and that, unfortunately, is where a lot of women go wrong when it comes to changing their bodies in perimenopause.

Yes, we all want to see changes immediately. I get that. I felt so desperate when I gained that extra weight.

And I didn’t understand what was happening with my body… I felt out of control, crappy (both physically and emotionally) and none of my clothes fit. I specifically remember buying all new shorts two summers in a row, and I felt so depressed and hopeless.

But I knew if I wanted to get healthy and lose weight, I needed…

  • a new approach
  • to become a new, better version of myself
  • to do things differently
  • stop engaging in the behaviors that got me to this place
  • a personalized plan to follow

As I always tell our clients, it’s never one thing, and it’s okay to ask for help, especially if you’ve been trying to lose weight on your own for a while now.

When you know what to do and have a plan to implement, it becomes so much easier to balance your hormones, improve your metabolism, thyroid, and mood, and change your physique. Most of our clients clients lose 5-20 pounds and keep it off for good!
